Tim Burness has run a busy astrological consultation and teaching practice at several points over the last thirty years, working with people from all walks of life.

There have been many appearances in local and national media and also some celebrity clients. Mostly however, Tim has interpreted birth charts for thousands of individuals with more ordinary lives!

With or without a face-to-face consultation, a careful in-depth analysis of the birth chart can be used as a guide to help us understand our psychological patterns and life choices. In keeping with other modern western astrologers, Tim's approach is to help empower the individual to become more fully responsible for his or her actions - "The stars incline, they do not compel."

After being surprised by the extraordinary accuracy of a computer forecast in 1986, Tim began extensive astrological study, drawing on a very wide range of sources. These included seminars by the respected psychological astrologers Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas, coursework with the Faculty of Astrological Studies and the books of internationally acclaimed American astrologer Stephen Arroyo.

Tim gained massive experience in a short time from several years working regularly at Mind-Body-Spirit festivals and psychic fairs. Hundreds of face-to-face astrological consultations and personal feedback gave Tim a great opportunity to refine what works and what doesn't. Client work gradually expanded in many directions, from advising on several business start-ups to work as a consultant for MIND, the mental health organisation.

In 1995 there were several local radio appearances under the name of Telepathic Tim, a path which he decided not to pursue further... ahem.

Since his teens, Tim has explored a wide range of other related spiritual interests. These have included courses in Shamanic Consciousness and Therapeutic Intervention at the University of Sussex, a large number of intensive self-awareness courses, and involvement with various forms of Buddhism. For twenty years, Tim's main day job was as a care and support worker across a wide variety of fields.

Drawing on his background as a musician, Tim's article on "The Aquarian, Uranian nature of progressive rock" was included in The Book of Music Horoscopes, published by Flare Publications in 2018. There have been many recent contributions to both IAM Infinity astrological magazine and Journal, the magazine of the UK Astrological Association. These have included a major essay on David Bowie's astrological birth chart, a piece on the life and chart of old friend Sir Harry Kroto (the Nobel Prize-winning scientist), and an astrological perspective on the murder of Stephen Lawrence. For a brief period, Tim was Vice-Chairman of the Brighton Astrology Circle in East Sussex.

Tim continues to work towards raising the profile of accessible and intelligent astrology as a tool for personal, social and spiritual transformation.
